Toby & Sam

Founders – Roots + Seeds

Toby and Sam were behind the acclaimed Cotswolds dining experience, The Scenic Supper, which opened its unique, socially distanced dining within individual glasshouses as an ingenious response to lockdown restrictions. Now onto their next adventure, they are thrilled to have launched a new dining hub, Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden.

This unique and exciting addition to Cirencester’s dining scene is sited at The Old Kennels in Cirencester Park, offering a vibrant and bustling café and restaurant environment. Once home to the Bathurst family’s foxhound kennels and stables, the beautifully designed, light-filled space with vaulted ceilings and large windows provides 54 covers and overlooks the kitchen garden. A great feature for families, as we discovered when we went there with our kids, is the adjacent playground - keeping them and us amused as we were able to enjoy the fantastic coffee on offer and watch them navigate the climbing frames.

With sustainability at its heart, the menus showcase some of the finest Cotswolds artisan produce from within a 25-mile radius, alongside fruit and vegetables grown in the kitchen garden. With a focus on creating a sense of community, Toby and Sam use their set up for talks and workshops on how to grow your own food, welcoming local school children, volunteers and charities. “Sustainability is very much part of our overall goal,” says Toby. “We will continually strive to reduce food miles and our carbon footprint, from sourcing as much seasonal produce locally to fulfilling a long-held dream of continuing to use produce grown on-site for our restaurant.”

Sam is pictured in our button-down Oxford in Pink Multi Check. This is a shirt that will see you through every occasion. It’s the most versatile shirt you can own – it’s also the one we are most proud of. There is so much that sets it apart from the crowd. Look out for the beautiful, rolled collar, the buttons are positioned so it is not flat and lifeless like so many others; and the extra weight of the Oxford cloth, which gives the shirt body and drape. It feels great to wear and gets better with age.

Toby is pictured wearing our Knitted Neppy Crew Neck in Denim. This is the perfect partner for your winter weekend outdoor pursuits. With the rugged appearance and weight of a Fisherman’s sweater but with an impeccably soft handle, this is knitwear you will want to wear over and over again.

“We both enjoy wearing Oxford shirts for their fit and relaxed yet formal approach to business. Supporting local is something we very much champion and that extends further than just our restaurant suppliers.”
